How to Install Fiber Cement Siding?

Do you like wood siding? Who doesn’t! However, it can be quite expensive to cover the whole house with solid wood. We have another alternative to suggest – fiber cement siding! The technology of making fiber cement siding is over a hundred years old and has proved to be a breakthrough. It has several advantages – it looks like wood, only is more durable as it is made of sand, cement and cellulose fiber – this also makes it undesirable for the termites! Fiber cement siding can serve you well for more than half a century! But most importantly, it is affordable!

-         the installing is very similar to wood siding, same techniques are used;

-         the siding is attached to the wall sheathing with nails, each board has to be attached in a way that it covers the previous ones and the nails the previous one is attached with, stainless steel nails are recommended;

-         It is advised to use water barrier materials under the siding such as tar paper;

-         the boards need to be cut with special tools, consult an expert!

-         the siding usually needs painting, use weather-resistant paint for longer durability.
