How many squares of siding should the average guy be able to hang, in a day?

I have my own "handyman" business and can't seem to find people that want to work. Maybe I am being too hard on them-how much siding should they hang in a day and how much should I be paying them?

Answer:
I would say the best way to judge how much the "average guy" would be able to hang would be to see how much you can hang in a day.

Do you consider yourself average, below or above? Adjust the number appropriately.

As far as pay the best way to figure out the proper pay is to just try different amounts. If you are okay with a lot of employee turn over start at a low wage and then move up until you meet your balance of turnover and retention. Salaries will depend on your area. I'm in the Cincinnati area and a common number for that type of manual labor usually starts at about $10 an hour. I'm sure New York is much more.

This is all likely information you already knew, but I hope it is somewhat helpful.
