What is the correct caulk to use on edge of cedar siding?

I need to stain my siding. Prior to staining I need to caulk the vertical seams. What is the best product to use?

Answer:
you say vertical seams as in the "butt joints", where one board touches another board? best to use not a caulk but a stainable filler, this will hide and stain alot better than any caulk could ever, just more work, sanding and such.
there are caulks that are made for this, that are colored.
But the correct caulk to use in situation other than mentioned is silicone acrylic latex, now some manufacturers such as dap say its stainable, but closest I got is painted it, I havne't really got to test this just claim just yet.
My opinion on the butt seams stick to wood filler, on edges buy the closest color to silicone acrylic latex you can get, They have many colors to choose from and Sherwin williams or local paint supply is your best bet, Don't rely on homedepot/lowes carrying this type of caulk.
